Since ancient history, artisans in the Levant region have developed many handicraft products catering to the demands of the society, whether they are rural dwellers or sophisticated townspeople. For the past few decades, however, these age-old crafts are at risk of disappearing as a result of changes in contemporary lifestyles and the challenges in finding successors to keep those crafts alive.
And so, in face of the economic and political instabilities in the country, L’Artisan du Liban has explored various ways to preserve and revitalize artisanal traditions to fit the modern world, at times by altering the usage of such techniques, at others by evolving the methods and procedures of creation. The future relies in the capacity of a society to evolve. This is where our designers come in. By keeping their products relevant, we concentrate on encouraging artisans to continue producing and to pass on their knowledge onto others.
